The curtain fell on the Matala Beach Festival

The Matala Beach Festival came to an end for this year leaving the best impressions. The upgrading of the Festival, compared to the previous years, in terms of organization and quality has been a catalyst for the conduct of the institution.

The flawless flow of the programme, the 24-hour coverage by a multi-member security company for the safety of artists and attendees, the excellent health coverage, the continuous provision of first aid by the 124 Samaritans, the essential cleanliness, the well-organized parking areas, the help of the cultural club, the active participation of volunteers and the organized camping raised the level of the event.

The turnout during the three-day event was huge. Bathers enjoying the cool waters under the hot sun and people having fun with the activities taking place next to the beach made up the backdrop of the weekend.

Body & Face painting had their honor for this year as well, while impressive shows with jugglers and stilt walkers offered moments of entertainment to the friends of the institution. And this year, the camping was full of people who chose to relax twice in the legendary caves enjoying the music and the sea.

The strong line up, with the combination and variety of different musical genres and sounds, excited the friends of the institution, raising the mood throughout the three days.

New up-and-coming bands such as Alone Together, Ex-Girlfriend's Perfume, Vamos Ensemble with Ioanna Forti, The Mighty Mezz, Jo & the Dimplers, Rider's on the Storm, Angelika Dusk, Sbaraquack and My Excuse covered the afternoon hours with great success and audience response.

After the thrill that Magic De Spell offered us along with Dimitris Poulikakos and the frantic party of Locomondo, it was the turn of the timeless ELENI VITALI who, together with the great Nikos Ziogalas B, performed hits of the Greek music scene, enchanting the audience under the starry sky of Matala, while the explosive Shantel with his orchestra entertained the audience until late Saturday night. The excellent Leonidas Balafas Live together with the beloved Giorgos Nikiforou Zervakis Zervakis gave a traditional touch leaving the closing of the three-day event to the unique Tonis Sfinos and his crazy company who with their special humor filled the audience with smiles and liveliness.

Ars Longa, Manos Tripias and Carl Axon & the Rocking Rebels took to the Square Stage on Friday night while Akourdistas Clocks and Adaei, Anna Psihogiou and The Dragons performed on the small stage on Saturday. On the last day MC2, the band Marcyas and Christos Damianakis-Christos Damianakis gave their best.

The messages of Unity and Peace along with the feelings of love, happiness and joy flooded the atmosphere of Matala for yet another year, leaving unique memories and the promise of reunion... Today is life, tomorrow never comes!!!!

This year, the organization was undertaken by the Matala Tourism Development Association under the auspices of the Greek Tourism Organization (Greece All Time Classic), the Ministry of Economy, Development & Tourism with the support of the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Phaistos, the Cultural Association of Pitsidia - Matala, and Matala Municipality of Phaistos Monomotive SA.
