As part of the Festival of Crete organized by the Region of Crete, a concert entitled "The Smyrna Songs" will take place on Friday 29 July at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Gouverniotissa.
Musical journeys and memories of Smyrna and Asia Minor, brought to today by the Rhythmos Orchestra, and sung by the leading performer Pantelis Thalassinos. He is accompanied by Eleanna Varela and Thanos Majilis.
A musical performance that reminds the audience where we came from and what our real "experiential" dna is. This is the past we sing about and this is why we tell the story of uprooting, pain and destruction, but also of hope, expectation, solidarity and love, qualities that should identify our generations.
So the songs of Smyrna, the songs of Asia Minor, but also our own songs, the more recent ones, the ones of today, which emanate the influence of that time and speak directly to our heart and soul.
The songs of Smyrna, the songs of Asia Minor, our songs!
Start time 21:00
The event takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and with the support of the Municipality of Hersonissos and the Culture & Development Organization "The Gouverniotissa".
