With the launch of a special traditional music programme of Cretan artists, the new digital channel for the culture of the Region of Crete "Culture in Crete" is launched at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-XhMPcWDI3kiC_0omPsoa3ubWdQLEYKP.
The projected programme is videotaped and has been successfully implemented to support local artists, co-organised by the Region of Crete and the Ministry of Culture.
This is essentially the successful utilization of part of the Ministry of Culture's programme "All Greece is one Culture", which aimed to strengthen contemporary artistic production, which is being tested by the stifling restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
30 Cretan traditional music bands participated in the programme and more than 150 artists and workers in the field of contemporary culture from all over Crete benefited from the programme.
In his statements, the responsible Vice-Regional Head of Culture and Hellenism K. Fasoulakis pointed out: "The unprecedented current conditions, which imposed the contraction of cultural production, also require policies to support the cultural product, so that the people of culture do not remain unprotected in the midst of this unprecedented crisis, which suspends the production of any cultural action. We hope and are working in this direction, in order to exploit all the financial possibilities available, so as to support all the people of contemporary culture who are currently suffering." Finally, Mr. Fasoulakis thanked the Minister of Culture Mrs. L. Mendoni, and the Deputy Minister Mr. N. Yatromanolakis for funding the programme, and the Deputy Mayor of Culture Mrs. Aristea Plevris for hosting the production in the wonderful space of the Basilica of St. Mark's.
