Concert dedicated to N. Kazantzakis' "Odyssey" by Manos Mountakis and the Cretan Folk Opera

The International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis, Greece Branch, presents the concert "The Odyssey" by Nikos Kazantzakis, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of its first publication.

Manos Mountakis worked for 27 years on the play "Odyssey" by the great Cretan writer and thinker Nikos Kazantzakis. In the form of a folk opera with a Cretan character and orchestration that makes the best use of the beauty of traditional musical instruments, he makes us partakers of Cretan thought and Cretan vision. He has set to music extracts from the prologue of the work as well as the entire first rhapsody, having "coloured" the intense elements of movement that Nikos Kazantzakis' work contains, with music that has a Cretan background and manages to dress a universal work with sound colours.
