The Matala Beach Festival 2017 starts on Friday

The organizers are preparing a message of "Peace" to the whole world at the opening ceremony! The time for the biggest musical event of the summer is counting down and Matala is ready to welcome a large number of people this summer in a magical three-day event on 16, 17 and 18 June.

The Matala Beach Festival, Europe's largest music festival with free entrance, takes place for the 7th consecutive year at the legendary Matala Beach, next to the famous caves where the "flower children" once lived carefree.

For three whole days by the sea and under the sun and moonlight, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a trip back in time, to live freely, to sing, dance and laugh out loud!

2 Stages, 24 bands and many activities from morning till late at night, will turn the settlement of Matala into a big village of celebration! Top artists and popular bands of the domestic and foreign music scene will take to the main stage (Cave Stage) of Matala, in order to give their best for the friends of the institution.

Eleni Vitali, Nikos Ziogalas, Locomondo, Magic De Spell, Dimitris Poulikakos, Tonis Sfinos, Leonidas Balafas, My Excuse and Shantel are some of the artists participating in this year's line up, while in the village square there will be a smaller stage (Square Stage) for those who wish to relax and stroll through the colorful alleys of the village which have already been transformed into a large canvas, since on Sunday, June 11, the traditional Matala Street Painting took place.

Workshops of body & face painting, juggling and pylon, fire shows, group yoga programs, acrobatics and many more games will offer moments of joy and fun to young and old.

It is worth noting that the opening ritual of the festival will also be impressive, which will take place on the first day, on Friday, June 16th at 21:30, with the organizers preparing a message of peace and unity to the whole world, with the public actively participating and being part of it!  

FESTIVAL PROGRAM (CAVE STAGE)

Friday 16 June 2017 -1st Day "MATALA BEACH FESTIVAL"

Alone Together: the opening signal for the festival will be given at 5 pm where the musical group "Alone Together" will take the stage of Matala and perform unforgettable songs of great artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Ten Years After, Cream & ZZ Top, taking the audience back to the '60s and '70s. Ex girlfriend's perfume. Reggae, swing, groovy with funky and atmospheric elements will enchant the fans of the institution. Vamos Ensemble. Ioanna Forti's diverse repertoire combined with songs from her personal artistic career and all this in sounds from the Vamos Ensemble will give the audience a special show. Magic De Spell & Dimitris Poulikakos. Covering songs by top Greek personalities such as Zambeta's "The Student", Dionysis Savvopoulos' "Vietnam Yee Yee" and many others will offer a spectacular show. Locomondo. With years of experience and old acquaintances of the legendary beach, Locomondo know that they will raise your spirits to the sky offering a spectacular show with reggae, ska and latin melodies accompanied by Greek lyrics in a romp until the early hours of the morning.  

Saturday 17 June 2017 - 2nd Day "MATALA BEACH FESTIVAL"

The Mighty Mezz: The signal for the start of the second day of the festival will be given by The Mighty Mezz who are coming to Matala to sing next to the caves of the "hippies" on Saturday afternoon. Their blend of reggae, dub, funk & soul is the soundtrack of their march up to enchanting the audience at every performance. Jo & the Dimplers. With influences from great artists such as Mother's Finest, Stevie Wonder, Joe Bonammasa, Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, Lenny Kravitz and more. Jo & the Dimplers were formed in Thessaloniki in 2016 and already have many live shows with notable artists and their first musical creation "Remember". Riders on the Storm (Doors Tribute). Their love for Jim Morrison's band brought them together in 2004 and to this day they still serve their genre with respect, offering audiences unique moments. Eleni Vitali & Nikos Ziogalas: Eleni Vitali, one of the leading Greek female singers with a huge career in the Greek discography comes to the Matala stage to enchant us with her special voice. In this wonderful musical journey she will be accompanied by Nikos Ziogalas, an excellent artist who has managed to combine folk music with rock and electric sound. Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar. The leading artist comes directly from Germany to give us a magical evening in balkan rhythms to perform his well-known hits such as "Disco Partizani" and to stir the audience until the early hours of the morning.

Sunday 18 June 2017 - 3rd Day "MATALA BEACH FESTIVAL"

Angelika Dusk: Her captivating presence combined with her hard sound heralds a very strong start for the last day of the festival. With pop, rock and indie rhythms but also with songs from the beginning of her career until today Angelika Dusk comes for a unique live on the Matala stage. Sbaraquack. My Excuse. Leonidas Balafas: An alternative artist with a strong element of improvisation will take to the Matala stage. His different style during his career makes him particularly special and beloved by the Greek audience, with his live performances being a unique spectacle. At the same time, in this musical journey he will be accompanied by George Nikiforou Zervakis, a great artist who is loved by the young generation, with a special love for Cretan music. Tonis Sfinos. He will be joined as always by the volcanic Playmates , the toymaker Lola and the chubby Barbie Girl, who will seduce us and carry us away to the rhythms of the 60's, 70's and 80's with lots of dancing without end. The finale of the three-day event will be very strong so get ready for the most flowery party that will leave you with the best impressions until the next date at the beach of "hippies".

So the time is counting down for a three days of fun, joy and freedom... because... TODAY IS LIFE, TOMORROW NEVER COMES!
